Just give me five minutes
Outside, a March 'robin snow', was swirling through the air. Pulling the door closed, I breathed in the peacefulness of my she-shed office. Dedicated to God, ministry, and personal growth, there, warmth and peace waited. Although I knew I needed just five minutes to decompress, with a sigh, I sat down my briefcase and headed out into the snow. Inside the house, dogs wanted out, groceries needed put away, and the dishwasher loaded.
Chores done and tea seeping, I looked outside, expecting to see gentle white flakes floating through the air...instead, the was sun shining. In just five minutes, I had lost out on enjoying the wonder of a spring snow. In a mere five minutes!
Five minutes to sip hot tea and listen for God. A mere five minutes to absorb the comfort of that little shed before 'adulting' again...a mere five minutes...
I'm sure I am not alone in missing precious opportunities to mundane tasks:
Folded clothes instead of playing trains...for just five minutes.
Washed dishes instead of playing chase...for just five minutes.
Trolled Facebook instead of praying...for just five minutes.
Chances are, five minutes aren't going to make much difference to the clothes, dishes, or Facebook posts...but five minutes with God or a loved one can make all the difference in the world.
Next time you're tempted to say 'just give me five minutes', make sure you spend them wisely. Lord knows I'm praying I will...
Be blessed today y'all,
In Christ with love and compassion,
~Dreama
