This week's verses reminds us that God will give us a new heart as His Holy Spirit works within. These verses reminds us of the power of Love at work in our lives.

IMAGINE THIS
I stood at the foot of this cross. Just a small replica of the one at Calvary. And I imagined how those who loved Jesus, the man, must have felt. I considered the blood, His torn flesh, the crown of thorns. I imagined the torn temple vale, and I could almost hear the earth’s tremble; as if millennial winds carried it still. Then I visualized the darkness of that hour. And I prayed: “Father, I don’t want to waste one drop of Jesus blood; let me become who He died for.” I walked away. Then I cried.

There are several reasons for taking Easter Sunday seriously. The book of John, especially chapter 14, is just one of them.

In this book, Jesus said that it is expedient that He go away. He said that when He does, the Holy Spirit will come. And He did. Jesus the man went away; ascended in a cloud back to heaven for a season of preparation. Shortly afterward, the Holy Spirit came. And with Him came freedom.  Freedom to live a life of love, joy, and peace. Freedom to have patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.  Evidence of a life dedicated to serving God…and others.

Throughout the Book of Acts, we see the Spirit in action. How He equipped the early church to continue the journey started with Jesus. The remaining books of the New Testament encourage us to keep up these great works. To carry on the ministry of Jesus.

Ergo my question: What are we doing with the blood of Jesus?

Can He count of us to put it to use? To use it as a way to encourage our neighbors? Are we using the blood of Christ to further His kingdom? Are we using the wisdom that blood was shed to deliver? Is there evidence of a life set apart?  Do our actions show forgiveness, love, and compassion?

As the early church grew, it faced many opposing forces. Most of us are free to express our faith openly. So do we share the story of Jesus to encourage others? Do we get excited when we see someone else experiencing life to the full? Are we doing something with the Holy Spirit or are we content to wear our spirituality like a badge – making our salvation all about us?

Once again I ask: What are we doing with the blood of Jesus?
